The Parable
It was time for evening prayers and benediction. People had gathered and were waiting silently. Soon, the saint came over to the venue. After a short prayer, he spoke to the gathering, telling them a parable.
“What do you think a house wife, who frustrates the business plans of her husband? Immediately, her husband comes home and drops his bag, she takes holds of it, opens it, brings out all the papers inside it and tears all the papers into pieces.
“She would tear papers on business agreement, including cheques and promissory notes for payments,” he finished.
“What do you think of such a house wife?” the saint asked the gathering.
“She is a trouble maker,” answered one person.
“She is demon possessed,” said another.
“She is destructive,” replied the third.
“She is mad,” concluded the fourth person.
“You have all spoken very well,” continued the saint. “However, I want you to know that many women are worse than the troublesome housewife.” The audience were surprised. Several women raised their hands asking, “How?”
“What do you think you are doing,” the saint continued, “when you welcome your husband home with anger? With insults? With frowns and with murmurings?” The women kept silent.
“What do you think you are doing? When your mouth is full of curses and complains, when your husband leaves home for work, in the morning? From the parable of the troublesome house wife, learn great lessons,” he concluded.
He turned to face the altar, and the congregation knelt down for prayers.
